Officials with the City of El Paso said the Sun City was chosen by USA CRITS to host the first Rise Cycling Talent Identification and Symposium on June 13, 2019.
The event will take place in El Paso for the next five years.
The event is meant for high school students and college-bound students to be seen by coaches, sports directors from colleges, clubs and national and international teams — and to possibly win scholarships. But any interested endurance-minded athletes are also welcome.
The event is expected to draw 2,500 attendees and could bring in $2.2 million each year, according to the city.
The event will include performance and mental testing, educational seminars, keynote presentations, peer-to-peer interaction, panel discussions and leading brands expo.
